2nd Coffeeshop Amsterdam Zuidoost
If everything goes according to plan, the second shop can open it’s doors next September.
Entrepreneurs from in and around the industrial area Amstel III have recently been informed. There will be a trial period of 2 years after which will be decided whether or not the coffeeshop can stay open permanently.
This is the 2nd coffeeshop after Coffeeshop Roots opened it’s doors next to the Trainstation of Bijlmer, a little over a year ago. The procedure of opening Roots took a long lasting period of seventeen years.
Pilot ‘Replacing Coffeeshops’
This second coffeeshop in The Bijlmer is a part of the Pilot ‘Replacing Coffeeshops’ in which the City of Amsterdam is moving Coffeeshops from the centre towards outskirts of the city.
Already Amsterdam has replaced 5 coffeeshops since 2012. Besides Zuidoost, they also have placed coffeeshops in Sloterdijk and the Western Harbour Area.
At this moment Amsterdam holds 173 Coffeeshops. In the 90’s that number was 450.
